Writing provides the calm to my inner cacophony.
Hello, my friend! Welcome to this space – a one-stop shop for all my literary experiments!
A former educator, specialised in English Literature, I currently dabble in fiction and non-fiction writing, poetry, book review, and freelance editing. Bangalore has been home to me for twenty years now, where I live with the three men of my life.
A Calcuttan by birth and pan-Indian by providence, I left my City of Joy many moons back to explore new communities and cultures across India, with my man in blue. The twenty-five wonderful years I spent with my Indian Air Force family offered me the most enriching experiences, the deepest insights, and showed me different facets of this unpredictable, ever-changing conundrum called Life!
Quitting a lucrative and successful teaching job at the peak of my career was a decision that baffled many. But here I was, raring to embrace life in the slow lane…to stop and smell the wildflowers…to drench myself in the first April showers…and inhale the redolent petrichor!
To give a voice to my innermost thoughts, I started penning articles for The Hindu, The Times of India and SheThePeople. Freelancing as Content Creator for a web-based media house also kept me fruitfully occupied. It was in early 2021 that I accidentally stumbled upon a few online platforms like Women’s Web, Penmancy, ArtoonsInn and Beyond the Box. And thus began my tryst with the fascinating world of creative writing – I read, learnt, wrote, reviewed, explored new writing spaces, and learnt some more!
Receiving the coveted Orange Flower Awards, 2022, instituted by Women’s Web, has been a mic drop moment for the fledgling writer in me. It has made me feel valued and validated. Several of my winning entries in writing contests are now a part of various prose and poetry anthologies. A few more are in the pipeline.
A large chunk of my heart is taken up by my neighbourhood fur buddies who make my life more liveable – their soppy kisses and happy tail wags inspire me to become a better, kinder version of myself every day.
I do not follow any austere reading-writing regimen. Carpe Diem, as a principle, mirrors me well. My pennings reflect my credo and enclose a slice of my soul. Kindly show them some love. If possible, leave behind a word or two – I shall be grateful.
Hoping to see you around soon!
